Mission & Vision
The Mission of the society is to serve professionals working in the field of materials science and engineering by:
Fostering
Interaction among materials scientist and engineers.
Promoting
An interdisciplinary approach to materials research.
Sponsoring
Interdisciplinary meetings of interest to materials scientist and engineers.
Goals
Growth of membership
MRS-S aims to increase the number of memberships by attracting more young researchers to join MRS-S as members. This would be done by organsing more conferences that would cater for the young researchers and encouraging them to participate in these conferences and become MRS-S members. One such example would be the IUMRS . International Conference of Young Researchers on Advanced Materials, organized by MRS-S and proposed to be held in July, 2012 in Singapore.
Student support and sponsorship
MRS-S would continue instituting various bursary awards / academic medals in the area of materials science and technology at National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Polytechnics which we have been doing for the past several years. MRS-S also provides financial assistance to students who are interested in attending conferences organized by MRS-S.
