The SNAS Fellowship
The Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS) Fellowship represents the apex of scientific recognition in our nation. It honours individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and distinction in the fields of science and education.
Beyond the honour, the Fellowship carries a responsibility to shape the future of Singapore. Fellows are expected to lend their expertise to the government and national organisations, providing strategic counsel on research, education, science policy, and the public communication of science.
Avenues for Impact
The Academy and the wider scientific community rely on the experience and influence of our Fellows to advance the national agenda. SNAS Fellows contribute through four key pillars:
Strategic Advisory: Actively contributing to science policy and research direction on behalf of SNAS.
Thought Leadership: Leading high-level studies, producing white papers/reports, and developing scientific guidelines.
Global Representation: Representing the interests of SNAS and Singapore in international societies, such as the International Science Council.
Convening Power: Organizing and chairing conferences, workshops, and events of national interest on behalf of the Academy.
The Fellow’s Commitment
Admission to the Academy is marked by a formal induction ceremony. New Fellows are required to sign a commitment to uphold scientific ethics and contribute to the research ecosystem in Singapore.
Upon induction, Fellows make the following pledge:
"We, the Fellows of the Singapore National Academy of Science, promise that we will endeavour our best to pursue excellent science and promote scientific knowledge in Singapore. We will carry out, as far as we are able, those actions requested of us in the name of the Council; and we will observe the Statutes and Standing Orders of the Academy."
