Field trips are a well-established and effective learning strategy in many areas of the life sciences. However, they are less commonly associated with the learning of physics. Our Physics Field Trip Initiative seeks to redefine this perception by creating a unique and immersive learning experience for STEM learners and their families.
This programme brings together STEM learners and their family members for an interactive discovery excursion, where physics concepts are explored in real-world settings. By leveraging the capabilities of the Phyphox mobile application, along with handheld portable devices, participants will use their smartphones to measure, capture, and visualise a wide range of physical phenomena in real time.
Through this hands-on and inquiry-driven approach, learners will experience physics beyond the classroom walls—observing how fundamental principles operate in everyday environments. The initiative aims to enrich learning, deepen conceptual understanding, and cultivate a greater appreciation for physics as a dynamic and relevant discipline.
By involving families in the learning journey, the programme also fosters shared discovery and strengthens engagement with STEM education within the broader community.
