P3: Physics in the Park Programme
Date : April 21 2026, Tuesday
Venue : Science Center Singapore
Organised by SNAS, in collabration with Science Center Singapore
Field trip is a proven and tested learning strategy in many topics in life science but we seldom hear about field trip for the learning of physics. In this professional development workshop, we aim to share with the teachers on the development and implementation of a unique learning experience in Physics for the students by bringing them out to the park.
We propose to develop a field trip where we bring a group of STEM learners on an excursion and use simple device to capture and display a wide variety of measured results. Through this active process, we hope that it will enrich the learning experience of our students and they appreciate that learning of physics can take place outside the classroom as well.
In this workshop, we also aim to share with the teachers that this unique learning experience can be achieved using commonly available device and tools. Teachers will experience how to utilize various venues, buildings, objects and infrastructures found on Jurong Lake Garden to conduct physics lessons. We will also prepare useful worksheets that teachers can further modify for their own classes when they implement such physics field trip learning experience back in their school.
